DSME sets $11 billion 2011 sales target

targetTis the season when Korean shipbuilders announce sales targets, providing as good a measure as any of world shipbuilding industry optimism.

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. said Monday that it is targeting orders worth US$11 billion for 2011.

In a regulatory filing, reports Yonhap, DSME said it is also looking for sales of over 10 trillion won ($8.68 billion) next year and 1 trillion won in operating income.

In 2010, DSME set itself -- and met -- an order target of $10 billion, just over half of the total coming from the offshore sector.
