NOVEMBER 7, 2012 -- Indonesia's Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has chosen Intergraph SmartMarine 3D for use in its Department of Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering.
SmartMarine 3D is an advanced shipbuilding and offshore design solution that is used by leading marine and offshore companies globally.
To equip its graduates with the right skills, ITS decided to partner with Intergraph and offer SmartMarine 3D as part of its curriculum for the Faculty of Marine Technology in the Department of Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering. Students at ITS will be trained in Intergraph's next-generation technology and become world-class engineers, ready to apply their knowledge and expertise in SmartMarine 3D when they join the work force. Students will also learn SmartSketch, Intergraph's engineering and drafting product.
"ITS has the responsibility to provide our students access to the latest and most advanced technology so that they can build up the required skills in their field for the best career prospects," said Ika Pria Utama, professor and head of the Department of Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering at ITS. "We are very impressed with SmartMarine 3D as an intelligent 3D design solution with rule-based technology and automation capabilities. Through this partnership with Intergraph, our students can acquire the necessary skillset desired by the local marine and offshore industry for increased productivity and enhanced global competitiveness."
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, "Intergraph is committed to nurturing the next generation of engineers, and we are honored to partner with ITS and support the growth of the marine and offshore industry in Indonesia. With training in SmartMarine 3D, the only next-generation 3D design solution specifically developed for the marine and offshore industry, ITS graduates will be able to deliver increased safety, quality and productivity to local engineering projects."
Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) occupies a large area totaling 180 hectares as its main campus in Sukolilo, and area in the vicinity of East Surabaya. The university also has campuses in Manyar and Cokroaminoto. ITS has long been maintaining its reputation for innovative and proactive relationships with industry and the public services. Recognized as one of the best technology universities in Indonesia, ITS offers great and challenging career prospects to its graduates. Currently, ITS has a wide range of degree and non-degree programs, which are managed under five faculties: Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Faculty of Marine Technology and Faculty of Information Technology. In addition, two polytechnics operate under the institute's management: Electronic State Polytechnic and Shipbuilding State Polytechnic. www.its.ac.id
