$34.88 million Navy job for Detyens

Detyens Shipyard, Inc., North Charleston, S.C., is being awarded a $34,881,277 firm-fixed-price contract for accomplishing the Service Craft Overhaul (SCO) of the Shippingport (ARDM-4).

Shippingport is a floating dry dock. The SCO will enable the dock to continue its mission of drydocking submarines.

There is a strengthening mod in the package that will upgrade the dock to enable it to drydock submarines of the Virginia class.

The work will include alterations and improvements, preservation, structural repairs, preservation, miscellaneous repairs, and drydocking. Work will be performed in North Charleston, S.C., and is expected to be completed by Jun. 2009. Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Mid Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center, Norfolk, Va., is the contracting activity (N40025-08-C-8007).
