July 14, 2008 Aker Solutions to supply drilling packages for Odebrecht drillshipsAker Solutions has been awarded two contracts by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd for the delivery of identical drilling equipment packages. Worth a total $260 million, they are intended for two drillships ordered by Brazilian engineering and construction giant Odebrecht. DSME has reported the deal as worth US$1.37 billion deal, but declined to identify the client. The two vessels will each be equipped to drill in up to 10,000 feet (3,048 m) of water and are scheduled for delivery by April 2011.
