Layoffs at Erie Shipbuilding

According to local media reports, Great Lakes shipyard Erie Shipbuilding is laying off employees.

The Erie Times-News says that the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has contacted the Erie, Pa., yard and confirmed the layoffs, though a spokesman for the department could not give the number or say whether they were temporary or permanent.

WSEE-TV reported that up to 30 people are being laid off.
