December 19, 2008 New Tombigbee River barge yard
The Demopolis, Alabama, Demopolis Times reports that CTCO Shipyard of Alabama, LLC has purchased 88 acres in the Demopolis Airport Industrial Park and is renovating the former Bergeron Barge facility and reclaiming its barge slip on the Tombigbee River.
CTCO Shipyard of Alabama is a sister company of CTCO Shipyard of Louisiana, LLC, headquartered in Houma, La. It will produce liquid petroleum tank barges at the Demopolis yard and will employ 50 employees initially, with plans for 100 employees by December 2009.
