May 21, 2007 Daewoo gets $1 billion box ship order Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., the world's third-largest shipbuilder, says that it recently won orders worth $1.1 billion to build 12 containerships. The deals with two German companies call for Daewoo Shipbuilding to deliver the vessels by June 2010. So far this year, the shipbuilder has won orders worth $6.04 billion to build 48 vessels, including 17 containerships.
