March 22, 2007 $76.6 million DDG 1000 award for Rolls-Royce The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., has awarded Rolls Royce Naval Marine, Inc., Walpole, Mass., a $76,640,200 firm fixed price contract (N00024-07-C-4014) for DDG-1000 Zumwalt main turbine generator sets. Work will be performed in Walpole, Mass., and is expected to be completed by September 2009. The multi-mission DDG 1000 Zumwalt will feature an Integrated Power System and a sustained speed of 30 knots. The keel for the lead ship of the class is expected to be laid in Fiscal Year 2009.
