Delmar expands Fourchon dockside capability
Delmar Systems, Inc. has relocated its dockside staging and storage facility to a new 11-acre tract of waterfront property located in the recently opened expansion area of Port Fourchon, La.
In addition to an expanded staging and storage area three times larger than its previous facility, the mooring company has upgraded its lifting capacity to a 4600 Manitowoc Ringer Crane rated at 650 tons with a 330-foot boom length.
The crane, the largest lifting capacity crane at Port Fourchon, is positioned on a stabilized limestone pad adjacent to a 600' waterfront bulkhead and is capable of handling most heavy lift requirements.
"We determined that our storage needs and those of our customers far exceeded the previous capacity. We are excited about the possibilities this yard brings in offering additional yard storage, equipment staging areas, and increased heavy lift requirements to our deepwater customers serving the Gulf of Mexico," said Brady Como, Delmar's Executive Vice President.
The 24-hour lighted facility also has in place additional lifting capacity, including a 150-ton crawler crane, two 52,000-pound heavy lift forklifts and a state of the art dockside chain handling system for easy loading and offloading of anchor chain.
The facility contains a 24-hour office and crew facility and is completely fenced and secured in compliance with recent Homeland Security Regulations.
"From an operational standpoint we have greatly improved our capability and storage capacity in handling the heaviest of mooring components, including conventional drag embedment and suction anchors, not to mention long-length mooring wires and associated mooring hardware," said Matt Smith, Delmar's Vice President of Operations.
The new facility is located at 558 Dudley Bernard Road, Port of Fourchon, LA.
