ACL books $15 million tank barge order

American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLI), parent of Jeffboat LLC, has secured a contract worth more than $15 million from Andrie Inc. to build an ABS classed 50,000 barrel, double-skinned tank barge. Construction will start in 2007 for scheduled delivery in 2009. The contract also includes an option for a comparable barge which can be exercised by March 1, 2009, with delivery to occur within 18 months.

Andrie is a transportation and construction company with corporate headquarters in Muskegon, Michigan, serving a customer base throughout the Great Lakes region and the Mississippi and Illinois river system, from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.

Commenting on the order, Jerry Linzey, ACL Senior VP and COO stated "Enhancements to our shipyard equipment and processes have expanded our manufacturing capabilities. We continue to manage our capacity with a disciplined approach, ensuring adequate flexibility to diversify our manufacturing business."

Joseph Rella, VP Sales, added "By signing this agreement we expand our customer base to include those who operate diversified ABS classed large vessels on the Great Lakes. Our new product offerings will enable our shipyard to broaden its customer base beyond the traditional inland waterway industry.
