Aker Yards to build ROV support vessel

Aker Yards ASA is to build an ROV Support Vessel, worth approximately NOK 370 million (US $57 million) for Geo ASA.

Delivery is set for May 2007 from Aker Yards, Soviknes, Norway.

The vessel is an Aker ROV 06 design, designed by Aker Yards.

The vessel is specially designed and equipped for subsea operations with a high focus on good sea-keeping capabilities and excellent station keeping performances. The design also includes ice class and inbuilt deicing for operations in northern oceans.

The vessel is environmental friendly with focus on low fuel consumption and precautions equivalent to DNV;s CLEAN DESIGN requirements are incorporated in the design.

The vessel will be outfitted with specialized equipment including an ROV hangar with doors and the ability to launch ROV's from both sides, as well as througha dedicated moon pool.

Other features include a large crane, helideck, work moon pool and high standard, low noise level accommodations.
