December 31, 2005 Shanghai said to be world's top port
According to Chinese reports, figures from the Shanghai Port Administrtaion show that cargo throughput in 2005 reached 443 million tons, which would make Shanghai the world's busiest port--displacing Singapore. Shanghai container throughput this year reportedly reached 18.09 million TEU.
