Hawaii Superferries sold at bankruptcy auction

Pilot online reports that the two Hawaiian superferries have been auctioned off on the steps of U.S. District Court in Norfolk, Va.

The U.S. Maritime Administration paid $25 million apiece for the vessels, which were built as Austal USA.

Marad will now look for a buyer. It is widely expected that the ferries will go to the Navy.
