Jeffboat workers vote to end strike

Jeffboat workers voted Sunday to end a four week long strike.

Jeffboat's parent, American Commercial Lines Inc., said today that it has secured a three-year agreement with Teamsters) Local Union No. 89 for Jeffboat employees. The agreement was ratified by more than 86 percent of the voters.

Mike Ryan, President & CEO of ACL, stated, "I would like to thank the Teamsters bargaining committee for working with us to find wage and healthcare alternatives as we strive to position our manufacturing facility to be competitive in the marketplace. We will continue to move forward with the implementation of our strategic plan for Jeffboat, pursuing new business in what remains a very challenging economic environment."
