Novakovic to succeed Heebner at GD Marine Systems

Earlier this week, David K. Heebner, executive VP and group executive of General Dynamics Marine Systems group was testifying before a House panel on the future of U.S. Navy shipbuilding. Now he is moving on. He is to succeed Charles M. Hall, executive VP and group executive of GD's Combat Systems group, who retires May 1. Phebe N. Novakovic, senior VP - planning and development, will succeed Mr. Heebner as executive VP and group executive of the Marine Systems group. Mr. Heebner and Ms. Novakovic will continue to report to Jay L. Johnson,GD's president and CEO.

Phebe N. Novakovic has been senior VP - planning and development since May 2005. She joined General Dynamics in May 2001 as director of strategic planning and development, was named staff VP - strategic planning in May 2002, and was elected to be a vice president of the corporation in Oct. 2002. Previously Novakovic was special assistant to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense, and had been a deputy associate director of the Office of Management and Budget.
