Rederi AB Transatlantic takes delivery of AHTS
Sweden's Rederi AB Transatlantic recently took delivery of Loke Viking the first new-build AHTS in a series of four from the Astilleros Zamakona shipyard, in Bilbao, Spain. The sister vessel, Njord Viking, is scheduled for delivery in November 2010. The series is specifically designed to meet demands for efficient, safe and environmentally friendly offshore management in areas with severe ice conditions.
Loke Viking is contracted by the U.K. oil company Cairn Energy to assist in oil drilling west of Greenland. The assignment also includes two other Rederi AB Transatlantic AHTS vessels, Balder Viking and Vidar Viking.
The vessel is classed DnV, +1A1, ICE-1A, Tug Supply Vessl, OILREC, SF, E0, DYNPOS-AUTR, NAUT-OSV(A), CLEAN DESIGN, COMF-V(3), DEICE, T-MON, BIS, DK(+), HL(2,8), LFL*
It is equipped with four MAK main engines, two rated at 4,000 kW and two at 3,000 kW and has a bollard pull of 210 t.
