MSC seeks tugboats for Haiti operation
Military Sealift Command is looking for one or two oceangoing tugboats in support of JLOTS operations in the vicinity of Port Au Prince, Haiti.
Joint Logistics Over-The-Shore [JLOTS] consists of loading / unloading of ships without fixed port facilities, in friendly or nondefended territory, and, in time of war, during phases of theater development in which there is no opposition by the enemy.
The requirement is for a period of 120 days with the right to redeliver anytime after 15 days.
According to the solicitation, posted at www.fbo.gov, the tugs must be configured to prevent metal to hull contact with military cargo vessel while assisting vessel to maintain ship's heading into the wind and to tow and position floating cargo such as RO/RO discharge facility, Army and Navy lighterage and floating piers.
