BIW gets $15.9 million DDG 1001 award
The U. S. Navy has awarded Bath Iron Works, a subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) , a $15.9 million modification to a previously awarded contract for procurement of long-lead material and engineering, production and related support services associated with the construction of DDG 1001. The original contract was awarded in February 2008. Work covered by themodification is expected to be completed by July 2010.
Jeff Geiger, president of Bath Iron Works, said, "The Navy's execution of this contract modification is a sign of their confidence in what we are doing and the progress that we are making on the DDG 1000 program."
Bath Iron Works is the lead designer and builder for the Navy's DDG 1000 Zumwalt-class program.
