Pirates seize PIL containership

Somali pirates have seized the 1,550 TEU Singapore-flag containership Kota Wajar.

The Pacific International Lines ship was hijacked in the Indian Ocean early this morning, local time some 300 nautical miles north of the Seychelles, according to a brief statement from EU NAVFOR.

The statement added that "an EU NAVFOR maritime patrol aircraft was tasked to investigate the situation."
