STX Europe wins PSV order
Deep Sea Supply has awarded STX Europe a contract for the design and building of a Platform Supply Vessel. The new PSV 09 CD design, optimized for eco-drive in all weather conditions, has been designed by STX Europe in Ålesund, Norway. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2012, and will be built at STX Europe in Brazil.
The groupÕs shipyard in Brazil, STX Brazil Offshore SA, is strategically located at Conceicao Island, Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro. The yard focuses on platform service vessels such as PSV and AHTS.
Roy Reite, President of STX Europe's Offshore & Specialized Vessels business area, says:
"STX Europe has been through an extensive R&D program over the last two years. We presented the new ship design to the market this spring, and have received very good response from our customers. We are proud to be given the opportunity to design and build this innovative platform supply vessel to a new customer, and look forward to cooperating with Deep Sea Supply."
The vessel is designed for good sea keeping performance, low fuel consumption and environmental friendly operations. The patent pending hull design is optimized for eco-drive in all weather conditions, and designed with high focus on reduction of water resistance in various conditions.
High standard accommodations are provided for 26 persons.
The vessel also incorporates customized features in terms of range, speed, capacity and cargo flexibility to meet the challenging requirements of exploration and production support operations in the newly discovered Brazilian "pre-salt" oil fields.
The vessel has a length OA of 87.9 m, molded breadth of 19 m and depth to main deck of 8 m. Deadweight is 4,700 t.
