April 5, 2004 New MAN B&W diesel MAN B&W Diesel has designed a tailor-made fuel saving S65ME-C engine for the latest design of Cape-size modern bulk carriers. This new type of engine was designed to respond to customers' specific present and future bulk carrier needs, but will also suit Suezmax tankers. " This new engine, the S65ME-C, is the solution for owners and operators in the important sectors of modern large bulk carriers and Suezmax tankers," says Grone. "The engine presents a 7- cylinder alternative to our well-established 6S70MC and 6S70MC-C/ME-C engines, which are, and will continue to be, in the standard designs of many modern bulk carriers. We certainly also expect that the 7S65ME-C will find use in other ship types. It will be the ideal unit for propulsion of large twinengine dieselised LNG carriers. We are very happy to offer this expanding range of engines to our new and existing customers. They will find the appropriate engine for their vessels, whatever segment of the market they are operating in." Like all ME engine types, the S65ME-C offers all the latest MAN B&W Diesel technical developments in one package. The electronic control system allows greater control over the fuel injection and exhaust timing functions, which results in an improved engine condition and increased performance. The main results are improved fuel consumption and longer lifetimes for components. 7S65ME-C engine data |
