December 14, 2004 Now, the 12,000 TEU containership Korean news sources report that Samsung Heavy Industries Co. says it has developed the world's largest containership, a 12,000 TEU vessel. With the design complete, Samsung will now pursue orders for the vessel. The 383 m long vessel will have a speed of 26 knots and will be powered by a 109,000 hp diesel. Samsung is reportedly now working on a 14,000 TEU design.
