Offen orders 8,400 TEU boxships

The trend for containerships to get ever large continues.

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co., the world's second-largest shipbuilder, said today it has won an order worth $195 million to build two 8,400 TEU containerships for Germany's C.P. Offen for May 2007 delivery.

Hamburg based Offen is one of the largest suppliers world wide of charter tonnage for the container market.
